Rhode Island 2018

We’ve been fortunate to be able to rent the same cottage in Narragansett, RI for the last four years which allows up to bring our dog along, it also gives me quick access to the lighthouse at Point Judith and if the conditions are right – surfing. It’s also a quick drive to the fishing port of Galilee which offers plenty of great opportunities for early morning drone flights. Here’s some highlights from this years trip using my DJI Inspire 1 Pro equipped with the standard 15mm lens along with the Olympus 25mm and 45mm lenses.

Glorious Solar Panels

I have been scoping out the Gloria Dei Church in Bristol which has a major solar array being installed on the roof of the church and offices. The project began at the start of the year and has been a slow process due to weather and the steep pitch of the roof but the crew from Ross Solar started putting the panels on the main roof this week so I took my DJI Inspire 1 Pro and Phantom 4 Pro out for a little filming. It’s nice to have the flexibility of the Inspire with the X5 camera so you can use different focal length lens to get a variety of shots and perspectives. Lens of choice here was the Olympus 25mm f/1.8 on the Inspire.

Aerial Filming Of Shopping Centers Using A Drone

Had a request to provide some aerial drone footage of some local shopping centers recently. The use of drones by professional FAA certified pilots can be a beneficial and powerful marketing tool for real estate agents, developers and construction companies. Thimble Islands Frozen In Time

Finally had a chance to edit my sunrise drone video from the Thimble Islands off the Branford shoreline which was locked up with ice from the extreme cold we’ve had over the last week or so here in Connecticut. Warm weather and rain could melt some of it Friday and Saturday but seasonable temperatures are set to return next week. Shot with my DJI Inspire 1 Pro and Phantom 4 Pro.

Maui Sunrise

I had the good fortune of taking a brief trip to the amazing island of Maui for a business trip covering the UConn men’s basketball team at the 2016 Maui Jim Maui Invitational just before Thanksgiving. I was only there for a few days but knew I had to take my P3 Pro along to capture some of the island’s beauty. I took this shot at sunrise on my second day, wind was gusting between 25-30 mph which caused me to be extra cautious in an area I wasn’t familiar with. My goal was to shoot the gap between the two peaks but decided the wind was too much and cut my flight short, still was a memorable sunrise.
